The team here at New Hall Wine Estate are delighted to unveil our latest range of wines - the 2021 vintage.
A family business, with vines first planted in Purleigh in the Crouch Valley in 1969 - we celebrated our 50th anniversary in 2019 - the vineyard estate now spreads across 150 acres, much of which is heritage vines.
The 2021 vintage wines are the first to be made in our new on-site winery, completed in 2020, and are also the first to appear under the ‘New Hall Wine Estate’ name and branding, whose design pays tribute to our past, present and future.
With our vineyard and winery teams on-site, New Hall Wine Estate is a ‘vine to bottle’ single estate producer, with our vines a mixture of traditional Northern European varieties planted back in the 1970’s, and more famous international grapes.
And our special ‘microclimate’ here in the Crouch Valley, together with our grape growing and wine-making techniques, enables us to rival some of the best wine-making regions in the world.
Owner Chris Trembath explains:
“Our history is so important to us, but we want to look to the future, and to being a flag-bearer for English wine. Our new winery, name and 2021 vintage, all reflect the progress that has been made here over 53 years of wine production, and celebrates our position as a specialist of high quality still wines in the increasingly talked about Crouch Valley wine region”
The New Hall Wine Estate 2021 range features two tiers of wine; the ‘Barons Lane’ range and the ‘Single Estate’ range. The Barons Lane wines are signature blends, and includes two whites, a rose and a light Loire style red. The Estate’s best-selling Bacchus is now positioned within the premium ‘Single Estate’ range, alongside an elegant Pinot Noir Rosé.
“For generations we’ve been making wine here in the heart of sunny rural Essex, and with our dynamic new labels and brand, and our specialism for fresh aromatic whites and young easy-drinking reds, we’ll be doing so for many more. We’re so excited to share our new range with people!”
On the new wines and brand, Tim Ferguson of regional wholesaler Promotion Wine commented:
"The brand new winery and completely new presentation are a real change of gear for New Hall Wine Estate - perfectly setting them up for their next fifty years. This launch is a major step for the Estate, and for this special area of the Crouch Valley".
